My open letter to Mozambique

To Mozambique

I have just arrived back in South Africa and have  a lot in my head which words fall short to express. I am overwhelmed by so much. I am definitely not the same women I was prior to our meeting! Please treat this letter as my token of gratitude and apology. Gratitude for the wonderful time I had under your sun, apology for my attitude towards you in the past mainly because of ignorance. You have in a short space of time reminded me what a wonderful place and people I come from, you have humbled me to tears and made me beam with pride for being an African.

As I walked around your streets I was shocked at how oblivious I've been about you. I marvelled at how you are developing.I observed that the traces of the war you went through are still visible  but in the mist of that I saw and felt your fighting spirit to better yourself and know that you are OK. I understand you still have a long way to go but I am glad that you are well on  your way. What I saw and experienced makes me hopeful. I saw how you celebrate your leaders/struggle heroes and know that by reason of you doing this you are on your way to greatness. Its a nation that knows where its coming from that will reach where its heading.

Thank you for your hospitality, the wonderful sea food and your rich culture. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to share in on your festivities. I am glad I had the pleasure of being under your scorching sun, I now understand where your people get their sun kissed skin tones which I love so much. Being around all the coconut trees and beautiful white sands made me appreciate my Africa and its beauty all the more.

I know you have economic issues which are not going to go away tomorrow but  I saw hard work as your signature.I met  so many of your young people who are a bundle of success about to happen and believe God is raising a generation of serious power houses. I believe Africa has a great future ahead and  I am glad I am here to witness the stages of  its progress. I laughed, cried, dined and danced with your people and will never look at them the same. You made me a better human being and for this I am grateful, I don't know when I will come back to visit you again as my wild heart still wants to explore the rest of Africa until then- Grow Africa grow! Your daughter is cheering you on.

Obrigado,Nzakensa Mozambique

Love
Matshidiso
